Strangest Record Attempts (Pictures)

There are 32 photos in the picture gallery of all sorts of different, some ridiculous, record attempts, also some that did make a new record. I have picked out 4 very “tame” pictures. In the picture gallery there is a picture of the world’s most pierced women, a guy that put 2 brown tree snakes through his nose and mouth, and the list goes on. Well worth the look at all these photos, some I’m sure you will laugh at; others will just leave you wondering.

Bee reasonable … Denzil St Clair tries to set the world record for bee poundage in 2006. He failed – and got stung 30 times for his efforts

Gyro tyro … Greek restaurant owner Costas Dasios shows off the world’s biggest kebab. He used 1850kg of pork, 150kg of spices and 100kg of salt to make it

Hear hear … basset hound Jack has the record for longest dog ears in the world

Pack yer trunk … these guys were part of an attempt to create the world’s most expensive painting by elephants. Yep, it’s a category

That kebab is freaking me out. I wonder how big his tub of hommus is? Haha. I always crack up at the strange things that get into the record books!

      Hi Selma,
Also the things people can come up with to get into the world records is just astonishing, you really have to laugh at some of them. :)

Mags – how do you find these bits of strangeness?! Two snakes up the nose? Give me sneeze – quick!

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi souldipper,
Did you see the photo of the 2 snakes up the nose, and coming out of his mouth? It’s the 17th picture in the gallery, very strange indeed.

I am trying to find the photo of my friend Angela Pavone, who tried to claim the record for carrying the most cups of coffee (19!) without a tray. The Guinness Book of Records disallowed her claim, saying that a) They only concentrated on serious records nowadays and b) It wasn’t witnessed by one of their ‘official observers’ (although it was witnessed by a policeman, a magistrate, a church minister and three retired military officers … apparently, our word wasn’t good enough!)

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi travelrat,
That doesn’t sound fair at all. You would think all those people would of been enough.
What an achievement though 19 cups that’s fantastic, still everyone knows that she did it and she should still feel very proud at what she accomplished. I still don’t think it was right of them to refuse her though.

He was only stung 30 times? Incredible!
I love the colorful elephant art – it looks just as pleasing to the eye as the much of the artwork created by humans.

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Barbara,
I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be under all those bees!
The art work from the elephants are fantastic, it would of been interesting to know how much the piece of art went for.

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Indira,
Oh yes there have been a lot of different and strange things done, I agree, I think the elephant did an excellent job on the painting. :)
