Japan 2011 Earthquake Update 2 (Picture/Video)

A new day and still we are hearing awful news about Japan, so many people have lost their lives in this terrible tragedy. Again my Heart and Thoughts are with all those people in Japan, I cannot begin to know what type of terror you all went through and are still going through. Millions of people now homeless, the powers that be are saying it will take years before the people of Japan will even have full power as apparently they will not be able to use one of the Nuclear powers plants again, it just beggars belief what is happening over there.

The response from the Nations of the world have been good to see, so many offering help and sending help to Japan. On the news, I have seen Leader after Leader offer Japan whatever they need, and that help is all starting to arrive now, and I’m sure they know that they will not have to cope with this alone.

ABOUT 10,000 people are unaccounted for in the Japanese port town of Minamisanriku in quake-hit Miyagi prefecture, public broadcaster NHK says. The Daily Telegraph.

(Reuters)A quake-hit Japanese nuclear plant reeling from an explosion at one of its reactors has also lost its emergency cooling system at another reactor, Japan’s nuclear power safety agency said on Sunday.
California is closely monitoring efforts to contain leaks from a quake-damaged Japanese nuclear plant, a spokesman said, as experts warned radiation could be blown out across the Pacific. The Sydney Morning Herald.

Very devastating. Part of a larger picture of increasing magnitudes of earthquakes, beginning in Haiti 1/2010 and continuing to Chile 2/2010, to volcanic eruption in Iceland, 4/2010, New Zealand 2/2011 and now this one. A larger picture regarding the stability of our planet is emerging, as well as our relationship to it. Lots of people, nuclear reactors and natural disasters are a lethal mix.
Thanks for all the images located in one place.

      Hi sistertongue,
There certainly has been a lot of disasters around the world this year, a year a lot of people will never forget, some peoples lives have been changed forever, as well as some Country’s will never be the same.
Thank you very much for visiting and your comment.

I think the idea of nuclear power stations near the Pacific Rim must be rethought. I wonder if geothermal power, as in Iceland or Kenya is possible here?

I agree, this is horrifying; I just haven’t the words to describe it.

      Hi travelrat,
I really don’t know if geothermal is possible in Japan, seeing as how they are sitting on a fault line drilling down may not be a good idea, that’s just my thoughts of course, I don’t know a great deal about geothermal power, but I do know they have to drill a fair way into the earth.

The devastation of Japan is such I feel, that words alone cannot describe it.
