75 Year Old Cuts Internet in Two Countries (Video)

I really feel sorry for this Lady, she accidentally cut the cable to the internet in Armenia and Georgia. She originally said that she didn’t do it, but later confessed she accidentally cut some sort of cable on the ground. When the authorities first approached her she didn’t understand what the internet was. Apparently both Countries lost the internet for nearly 12 hours. This has happened before in Georgia when a scavenger hacked into the cable while hunting for scrap metal. I think both these Countries should get their act together and fix all their cabling up, if it is that easy to cut into maybe they should bury the cables properly so this sort of thing doesn’t happen.

There is a story about this in the Courier Mail.

I have cable broadband, and we lost it for two days a couple of years ago (along with cable TV and telephone) when some drunken bum ran into a junction box.

Fortunately, we have Freeview and Free-to-Air TV and mobile phones, as well … and there’s free internet (not cable) at the Public Library … when it’s open!

      Hi travelrat,
All it took was someone running into a junction box, that’s amazing. You would think in this day and age they could came up with something a bit better than that seeing as how so much in our lives depend on the internet. Banks, traffic lights, and of course the list just goes on and on, just about everything.

12 hours without internet. That’s an awful lot of stressed-out teenage boys, even in Armenia and Georgia.

JCU lost all internet capability (a couple of months back) when a contractor accidently cut a cable in Douglas. It happens here too – you don’t have to be a 75 year old! Havagoodweekend Mags. Cheers, Mal.

      Hi Mal,
They must have forgot to check before they dug, I mainly put this down to someone not doing their job properly, I bet they check now before they do anything. 🙂
You have a great weekend also Mal.

Poor Lady! I feel sorry for her, too. Wonder why she was digging for scrap metal – to sell so she could buy food? Our internet was down for a day a few weeks ago – I was NOT a happy camper! 🙂

      Hi Barbara,
Apparently it is common for people to dig for scape metal in that part of the Country, I would assume it would be for the essentials in life such as food. This poor Lady would of been terrified when the Authorities came around, especially seeing she didn’t understand what the internet was.

This is quite amazing … that it doesn’t take more than that to cut two countries off from the web?! One would think it would take more than that — some kind of government decision like in Egypt, Libya and all that…

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Rebekah,
It doesn’t seem to be done real well in those Countries at all, seeing as how this is the second time it has happened you would think they would do something about it, surely it can’t be that hard.
Thank You for visiting and your comment.

on a different note, I’m curious how you managed to get the Feedjit widget to appear on a WordPress blog. I’ve tried so many times … never get it to work?!
