Rags to Riches for a Dog.

This beautiful dog that looks a lot like a labrador, is actually a mastiff mix, and he’s name is Roly. He was unfortunately brought up in a home that no dog should have been allowed to enter, hence he spent an early life of terrible cruelty, with physical scars. But this terrible life was not meant to be for this lovely dog. After being rescued he was in care for nearly a year, and was adopted by a wonderful family, now he lives the life of luxury.

He now lives in a beach house with a beautiful back yard, and his new owners take him everywhere, even jet skiing. There is a fantastic story about Roly in the Herald Sun.

  1. Mags, I got choked up reading this story. I’ve only owned rescue dogs, the current one a pitbull that was left to die by an uncaring owner; the dog before her, a aged blind and deaf Westie, who I brought home to live out his life with dignity. Everyone should own a rescue dog at least once in their life. They give such incredible love back. Three cheers to Suzanne Mason!!!

      Hi EOSR,
There are a lot of caring people in world, and where would we or the animals be without them. Good on you for taking in a rescued dog, and I totally agree the love that you get back is 10 fold, these animals have lived a life of cruelty, and suddenly they are being looked after, they know, and of course return that with unconditional love.

I can’t read the original story because I can’t tolerate animal abuse tales even if there’s a happy ending. But I admire and love Suzanne. I, too, will never purchase another dog from a breeder. There are too many dogs waiting for their forever home. And my home will always be open to them.

      Hi Snoring Dog Studio,
The original story doesn’t go into the abuse at all, it does skip over it, otherwise I would not be able to read it either. You are so right, there are a lot of dogs out there regardless of where you live that needs a good home, and Thank Goodness there are people that will not hesitate to give them a good home.

How do I manage to get adopted by this family? I’ve had a hard life…no really! Thats one lucky dog, it’s so very sad that so many more slip through the system and continue to be abused. Thank you for posting this interesting and thought provoking story.

I am so happy that there was a happy outcome for Roly! I cannot understand why people abuse animals – it just doesn’t make any sense.

      Hi Barbara,
I also have never been able to understand why some people ( I’m sure it is only a small minority of people) treat animals in a cruel way. Of course we have laws against cruelty, but you never actually here of anyone getting anything but a small fine, penalties should be a lot stronger I feel.
