World Prepares for Xmas 2011 (Pictures)

I chose 5 photos out of the newspaper picture galley, from 5 different places, in no particular order, the photos below were some of the first in the gallery.
The link to the Christmas Photos from around the world is below the last photo. The photos in the gallery are only small, and are shown 1 at a time, so loading should not be a problem.
I hope you enjoy the Preparations for Christmas around the world.

With over 300 market chalets, Strasbourg attracts over 1.6 million visitors during the Christmas season. Beginning in 1570, Strasbourg opened its Christmas Market around its prestigious Cathedral. Since that time, its reputation in Europe has only increased, thanks to its merchant tradition as well as its spirit of tolerance and humanism that constitute its history and identity. 2. wolke205 says:

This is so beautiful, Fireworks & Christmas Trees, yay 🙂

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi wolke205,
They are all beautiful aren’t they, the Christmas trees no matter where or how big or small always look fantastic. 😀
Thank You for visiting and taking the time to comment.

  3. El Guapo says:

Beautiful pics. I think the LEDs in Poland look quite elegant.

  4. Lafemmeroar says:

Love the pics with fireworks … it’s like 4th of July on the holidays. Great pics. Sharing this on my Crazy Chicks FB page 🙂

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Lafemmeroar,
I hope your friends enjoy the photos, there are lots of beautiful Christmas trees right around the world, and there seems to be a lot of country’s that used fireworks this year when lighting up the trees. 😀

  5. Rebekah says:

Great pictures, and fun to see how they do it in different places.

For some reason, I liked Warwaw, Poland in particularly much… 🙂

  6. Rebekah says:

and if I didn’t type too fast, I’d be able to write Warsaw LOL

  7. malc50 says:

Thanks Mags. Your photos make Townsville’s effort (http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/article/2011/12/06/288811_news.html) look poor. We planted a pine tree in our new redeveloped city centre, but it’s too young to support many decorations – maybe next year will be better! Merry Christmas, Mal.

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Mal,
Oh my, what on earth were they thinking? Whoever organized that should be sacked, that is really terrible, there is still time for them to get a proper tree and get it up and running surely.
They should let this tree mature, and just go out and get a proper tree.

  8. Rebekah says:

here’s from my hometown … only picture I could find was the tree ON ITS WAY to the main square LOL

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Rebekah,
Oh that is a lovely tree, and it really looks good with all the snow around on the ground as it’s being taken to it’s destination. If you get a chance to go to see your towns Xmas tree all decorated you will have to put a picture on your blog so we can all have a look. 😀

  9. Ron says:

Nice Christmas trees from everywhere, it’s good to see all the other trees from around the world, I liked the pics.
@Malc50, that is a poor show.

  10. HolEssence says:

    Breathtaking photographs — thank you.

  11. Barb says:

Although not universal, Christmas, like New Years is global. It’s uniting to think of all us around trees, squares, friends, celebrating together. May there be peace.

  12. barb19 says:

Beautiful photos, and it’s good to see what happens in different parts of the world.

  13. travelrat says:

It seems every time I turn on the News, the Mayor or Council Chairman of somewhere is trying to justify the cost of Christmas lights in these hard times.

I say, if there are no Christmas lights, then we’re *really* in trouble!

  14. aFrankAngle says:

Stunning and beautiful … yet the striking thing that hits me the most is their simplicity. Thanks for your work on finding these.

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi aFrankAngle,
They are stunning, and to see what looks like thousands of people gathered at each place to watch the lighting of the Christmas trees is just great. 🙂

  15. Earth Ocean Sky Redux says:

I am so glad to see some cities still go all out to decorate. And interesting how so many use all white lights. For our own tree, we only and always use colored lights but the white ones sure do sparkle and make the trees glow. Thanks for getting me in the spirit today. We’re going out in about an hour to get our tree. I’m ready!

  16. It truly is a festival of lights! It’s nice to see how things are decorated in other parts of the world. We love to go out for a drive to see the lights on houses locally, so many personalities to be seen in the different displays.

  17. Selma says:

Some of those Christmas trees are spectacular. I could sit and watch the lights for hours. Tis has really put me in the Christmas mood, Mags. Ho ho ho!!

  18. gitwizard says:

I’m not that interested in Christmas these days, it is far too commercialised in the West. I used to work all over the Xmastime when I was a cab driver, I once drove someone to Doncaster on Christmas Day ( a round trip of about 500 miles). My favourite Christmas of recent times was spent in Poland with friends.
Happy Christmas to you and all your readers!

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi gitwizard,
That is one long trip, 500 miles it must of cost them a fortune.
It’s nice to know you are still around, I was very surprised when I woke up this morning and seen the comment was from you, welcome back. 🙂

  19. dearrosie says:

what if we could take the Christmas spirit and carry it through to next year?
what if we could remember that happy feeling and love each other all year?
what if January and February and March and April…etc were full of cheer too?
    what if…?
