Dangerous Roadside Debris (Video)

There is a bit of a debate on You Tube about this video, and a few people said it was fake, but not so apparently.

Here is a little bit from You Tube:-
To answer the questions, I was videoing two trucks that were holding up traffic, was using my iPhone, and had the phone pointed to the trucks, but I was watching the road. It’s not like a camcorder where you have to look into the viewfinder people, think about it before you say something ignorant. Thanks for all the positive feedback.
Pay attention at the 30 second mark. No- it wasn’t an April Fools joke, it really happened, and I was fine.

If you look closely around the 30 second mark, you can actually see the piece of wood being hit by the trailer in front, this is one of those OMG moments and I’m so vey glad that no one was hurt.

    Holy cow. Stunning video.
Yeah, thank goodness the guy walked away from it!

  2. Goodness, gracious, sakes alive!

  3. Rebekah says:

truly an *OMG* moment!!! You know … I often think about this, while driving behind some vehicle like that — I try to get away from them. Wow…

      Hi Rebekah,
I don’t usually think about what may be laying by the side of the road, but it shows how easy these things can happen, a bit of wood on the side of the road and the next second in your windscreen.

      • Rebekah says:

oh dear … I didn’t get it! I thought the wood came off that lorry in front of him…

It does look like it come flying from a vehicle, until you look real close at about the 30 second mark, and you can just see the wood laying there and the tyre of the trailer just clipping it. I watched it a couple of times myself to see how it all actually happened.

I was expecting something, but jumped all the same when it hit the windscreen. Thanks for sharing that, Mags. Cheers.

A prime example of being aware of the unexpected!

  6. barb19 says:

omg! I was waiting for something to happen and when I did I still jumped out of my skin – in fact I had to watch it 4 more times! He was so lucky not to get hurt with that piece of wood; he must have kept his cool to stop the car too.

  7. tempo says:

Wow, that would be freaky… a friend of mine had this happen with the wheel of on oncoming car that fell off and bounce into his screen at highway speed, it wrecked the car bending the roof but somehow he wasnt hurt except being sprayed and cut by the glass from the screen..

  8. Arindam says:

“No one knows what will life bring next”. This video is the prime example of this statement.

  9. travelrat says:

It was very windy yesterday, and I saw a section of fence being blown along & hit a car. Everyone was alright; the car was only slightly damaged, but the owner said:

‘The insurance company aren’t going to believe this! I bet they come back and say ‘You sure you got that right way around?’

  10. That’s horrible. Thank God no one was hurt.

  11. This guy is plain and simply lucky that he was able to keep the car in control after the 2×4 hit him since he was holding the phone with a hand that should have been on the steering wheel!

I wonder if he was able to submit the video to his insurance company for damages when using the phone where I live is illegal. That would be the ultimate irony – that this driver get a ticket!!

  12. susielindau says:

I know that is was really something that you weren’t expecting, but I would have cussed or said, “Holy smokes!” or something!

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi susielindau,
I know I would of said a few words as well, I think at first you are a bit shocked, the swearing would came later.
Thank You for visiting and taking the time to comment.

  13. How frightening! And I’m glad no one was hurt. But I still don’t understand why he was filming those trucks in the first place? Somehow “because they were holding up traffic” doesn’t seem plausible to me…

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Barbara,
I really don’t know, I thought maybe he was going to put in a complaint about the trucks and wanted some sort of evidence, but of course I’m only guessing.

  14. dearrosie says:

I also jumped when I saw it, so Mr F wanted to see what gave me a fright. We watched it together twice, and we still don’t get why he was filming in the first place.

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi dearrosie,
I wonder if he only keep the part of the video that was relevent, and cut out the rest, I feel there may be something we are not seeing.

  15. Ye gods and little fishes! I leaped ten centimetres out of my seat – and I knew it was coming! I remember seeing something like this on television, but filmed from another car. The driver of the car that was hit swerved over onto the side of the road and stopped. That one was bad enough, but this one – words fail me!
