Air traffic controller and private pilot James Price built a flight simulator out of the nose of a 1969 Boeing 737 in his Pleasanton garage. He has been working on it as a hobby since 2000.
When the video starts, check out the sign behind James in the garage “Man Cave” I thought it was rather clever. I’m sure us girls could come up with a good sign if we were ever lucky enough to have a simulator in our garage. π
The biggest ever boy toy! wonderful, thanks for sharing.
Hi Gilly Gee,
Is it ever, but what a lot of fun. π
Thank You for visiting my blog and taking the time to comment.
Love this!! We kind of love airplane stuff!
Hi zannyro,
I would love to have something like this, even though I wouldn’t have a clue how to fly. π
I know!! I would just like to sit in it to see what the pilot’s see!
Hi zannyro,
I agree, it would be an experience.
I wished to have something like that in our garage too… Fascinated me dear Mags, I love to fly… Thank you, with my love, nia
Hi Nia,
Think of the fun you could have with one of these, I think it would be great. π
Amazing! It’s incredible what people can do π very talented man! I feel like making something now ^^
Hi Adri,
Yes to think he built this on his own is just amazing. π
What fun, Mags, but I want a starship in my garage.
Hi Naomi,
A starship, now that does sound good. π
I’m terrified of flying in airliners (fine in a light aircraft) but I could handle a trip in this.
Hi gitwizard,
It would be fun without leaving the ground. π
I’d like to have a holodeck in my garge just like the one on the Starship Enterprise, just imagine fun you could have :-).
Hi Windsmoke,
Yes your the second one to mention a starship, it certainly would be a lot fun, zooming through the universe. π
My husband, Len (a small aircraft pilot) love, Loved, LOVED this post. Thank you!
Hi Laurie,
That’s great, I bet he wished he could also have one of these in the garage. π
Oh, my husband is going to *love* this one! Thanks for posting it! π
Hi raisingdaisy,
Yes it is one of those Big Boy Toys that is for sure. π
What a great idea to come up with, in the first place … remarkable job he’s done on it! He must have so much fun with that! π
Hi reb,
The work that must of be involved to get this going boggles the mind, just amazing. π
I always wanted to learn to fly but nobody wanted to ride with me. Perhaps this is the answer.
Hi writingfeemail,
I think it’s a wonderful thing to have, there is even another seat there for the co-pilot, if you get one, I’ll ride with you, and with a huge smile. π
The perfect Father’s Day present!
Hi Elyse,
Very good thinking, it would be perfect. π
I like the way you are so interested in so many diverse things – which makes YOU very interesting!
Hi jmgoyder,
Thank You. π
There are a lot of interesting things in the world. π
Iβm sure us girls could come up with a good sign if we were ever lucky enough to have a simulator in our garage.
Hell yeah, the sign would read: Most Definitely A Cave To Be Searched By Men. LOL.
Hi elcampeador,
Oh that is good, that is very good. π
Yeah, I thought it was. You little devil, Mags. π
π π
Lots of fun. π Nice video. π
Hi Doraz,
It certainly does look like a heap of fun. π
What a hobby! And I guess there’s no room for cars in that garage. I’m glad that’s not my husband’s hobby! xx
Hi hotlyspiced,
Yes I think you would need more than 1 garage, to make roam for all the other stuff, like cars. π
Well, the French came up with “boudoir” for the ladies. It literally means a place for sulking, “bouder” means “to sulk”. By extension, it also means to ignore something as in the sense of “not taking any notice” of it, but that is more colloquial than the original meaning.
My father would have loved that flight simulator. It’s a good thing that he is no longer with us; he would have done his best to get one of those.
Hi Lady Marilyn,
I would love one myself. π
Some people are so clever. It wouldn’t be easy to build all that. My son would be in 7th heaven if he could mess around on that!
Hi Selma,
I think it would be come addictive, he said he had a lot of countries in the computer that you could fly into, can you imagine the fun. π
That’s dedication π
Hi mimo,
It certainly is. π
“Big Boy Toy” … classic line. On the other hand, just another example of pride in the craft. Given my motion sickness, wonder how long I would last in it.
Hi Frank,
Yes he did mention the rocking and rolling affect, although in the pilots chair looking out it may not be too bad, but still it would be fun to give it a go. π
Words fail me! Amazing!
Scott
Hi Scott,
It definitely is amazing. π
This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a really long time. I would love to try this out. π
Hi fiztrainer,
It would be great to go flying into different airports around the world from the garage. π
Absolutely!! π
I usually share your blog posts with my hubby but for fear he’d love this in HIS garage, I am telling him a little white lie, that you didn’t have a post today!!
Hi EOSR,
All I can do is laugh at that one. π
I just showed this to my husband and he is already dreaming of having one in our garage. If we did I’d never see him again! He already spends enough time flying on his computer.
Hi She’s a Maineiac,
I think a lot of guys would love one of these, the ultimate dream. π
THAT WAS SO COOL! I ljust love that someone would build a flight simulator in their garage. :+)
Hi starlaschat,
It is very cool, I wish it was my garage. π
For some reason the video will not load for me. I’m sure it was a cool video.
It’s always interesting to take a peek into a man cave – you never know what amazing things you might find. π I love that he put so much thought and effort into his passion!
Hi Barbara,
I just can’t imagine the work that went into making all this, the different computers that was needed as well, just amazing.
