Flight Simulator Built in Garage: California (Video)

Air traffic controller and private pilot James Price built a flight simulator out of the nose of a 1969 Boeing 737 in his Pleasanton garage. He has been working on it as a hobby since 2000.

When the video starts, check out the sign behind James in the garage “Man Cave” I thought it was rather clever. I’m sure us girls could come up with a good sign if we were ever lucky enough to have a simulator in our garage. πŸ™‚

  5. What fun, Mags, but I want a starship in my garage.

  6. gitwizard says:

I’m terrified of flying in airliners (fine in a light aircraft) but I could handle a trip in this.

  7. Windsmoke. says:

I’d like to have a holodeck in my garge just like the one on the Starship Enterprise, just imagine fun you could have :-).

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Windsmoke,
Yes your the second one to mention a starship, it certainly would be a lot fun, zooming through the universe. πŸ˜€

What a great idea to come up with, in the first place … remarkable job he’s done on it! He must have so much fun with that! πŸ™‚

  11. I always wanted to learn to fly but nobody wanted to ride with me. Perhaps this is the answer.

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi writingfeemail,
I think it’s a wonderful thing to have, there is even another seat there for the co-pilot, if you get one, I’ll ride with you, and with a huge smile. πŸ˜€

Hell yeah, the sign would read: Most Definitely A Cave To Be Searched By Men. LOL.

  15. Doraz says:

Lots of fun. πŸ™‚ Nice video. πŸ™‚

  16. hotlyspiced says:

What a hobby! And I guess there’s no room for cars in that garage. I’m glad that’s not my husband’s hobby! xx

  17. Well, the French came up with “boudoir” for the ladies. It literally means a place for sulking, “bouder” means “to sulk”. By extension, it also means to ignore something as in the sense of “not taking any notice” of it, but that is more colloquial than the original meaning.

My father would have loved that flight simulator. It’s a good thing that he is no longer with us; he would have done his best to get one of those.

  18. Selma says:

Some people are so clever. It wouldn’t be easy to build all that. My son would be in 7th heaven if he could mess around on that!

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Selma,
I think it would be come addictive, he said he had a lot of countries in the computer that you could fly into, can you imagine the fun. πŸ˜€

    That’s dedication πŸ™‚

  20. aFrankAngle says:

“Big Boy Toy” … classic line. On the other hand, just another example of pride in the craft. Given my motion sickness, wonder how long I would last in it.

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Frank,
Yes he did mention the rocking and rolling affect, although in the pilots chair looking out it may not be too bad, but still it would be fun to give it a go. πŸ˜€

  21. Words fail me! Amazing!

  22. fiztrainer says:

This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a really long time. I would love to try this out. πŸ˜€

  23. I usually share your blog posts with my hubby but for fear he’d love this in HIS garage, I am telling him a little white lie, that you didn’t have a post today!!

  24. I just showed this to my husband and he is already dreaming of having one in our garage. If we did I’d never see him again! He already spends enough time flying on his computer.

  25. starlaschat says:

THAT WAS SO COOL! I ljust love that someone would build a flight simulator in their garage. :+)

  26. For some reason the video will not load for me. I’m sure it was a cool video.

  27. It’s always interesting to take a peek into a man cave – you never know what amazing things you might find. πŸ˜‰ I love that he put so much thought and effort into his passion!

    • magsx2 says:

      Hi Barbara,
I just can’t imagine the work that went into making all this, the different computers that was needed as well, just amazing.
