This story and picture was sent to me by a friend (Thank You John A.) and I thought it was such a beautiful story that I would share it with everyone.
This is told as a true story, however I do not know for sure, Regardless I am sure you will be smiling after you have read it. 🙂
Tired Old Dog
An older, tired looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of. He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, and curled up in the corner and fell asleep.
An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks.
Curious I pinned a note to his collar: “I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.”
The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar: “He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3. He’s trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?”
LOL! that’s adorable!! 😉
Hi andy1076,

Hi Adriana,
Yes I wonder the same thing when my dog is sleeping, especially if she is twitching a bit in her deep sleep. 😀

Hi lolabees,
No it isn’t my dog, the picture came with the story, but he is a gorgeous looking dog. 😀
This is such a beautiful story… At first I was afraid to find something tragic but this is amazing. I think of my cat now, sometimes there is too much sound in the living room because of the television and she leaves the room and goes far from us and she tries to sleep… But if she can’t still sleep she begins to shout us… Really. But I didn’t know this lovely dog and his naps… Thank you dear Mags, with my love, nia
Hi Nia,
I am so glad you liked it. I would not of put the story in my blog if it was about anything cruel.
Sounds like your cat has a story of her own. 😀
This is good dear Mags, I am so emotional one, I begin to cry… 🙂 My cat, she is very naughty one and also she feels that she is the Princess of this world… 🙂 Love, nia

That story is really funny. I am not an animal lover but we have friends who have a dog and when they go out from the pairs of shoes around the door he takes one shoe from each family member and brings it to the steps and sits there waiting for them.
Hi Peter,
That is amazing, the dog has everyone covered when they arrive home, I love it. 😀

Oh, the things dogs do to make us laugh – they never fail to entertain! Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂
Hi TSP,
You can only laugh at some of the things they get up. 🙂
I thought that it might be something like that. Having had three children in twenty-nine months, I know how he felt.
Hi Lady Marilyn,
Yes he was obviously very tired, just need a quiet corner. 🙂
Simply superb story.

Of course you can reblog, the story has been rebloged by a couple of people. 🙂
Thanks!
Cute story. When I lived in the States (I didn’t owned pets back then) a black cat was visiting me on occasional afternoons and took a nap on our living room seat. It turned out to belong to a woman who lived in the first house of the street and the cat walked every day along the street, entering every open house to collect treats, getting petted (is that correct grammar?) or entertained or looking for a napping place. Everybody who lived there knew him. He spend the whole day like this and returned every evening to his own place to spend the night there.
Hi blueberriejournal,
That is unreal, animals, they are amazing. 🙂
What a heart warming story. So sweet!! 😀
Hi fiztainer,
I totally agree. 🙂
I love this blog and would love to follow it. I am writing a series of stories for my grandchildren based on the life of a wonderful dog called Bart. He was a Springer Spaniel who sadly passed away this year. He was such a character and had such an amazing life that I am determined to immortalise him in print. Here is my first page.
Bart’s World
I want to tell you stories that fill your heart with joy and it doesn’t really matter if you’re a girl or boy. I looked in all the bookshops and in the library too, but though the books were charming, they weren’t quite right for you. So I bought a little notepad and found a coloured pen and every time I got an idea I captured it and then, I worked on it and played with it and wrote it out again.
I don’t write scary stories, although I’ve read a few, but they don’t make me happy as stories ought to do. I don’t write clever school books that live on dusty shelves, or fairy stories full of witches, goblins, gnomes and elves.
I want my books to stay with you and set you free to dream, of happy times with loyal friends and hurdles overcome. Don’t lock them in a cupboard; don’t leave them in your bag. Enjoy my books, have fun with them and share them with your friends. Then get a little notepad and find a coloured pen and when you have an idea write a story of your own.

Now curl up somewhere cosy and let yourself relax. Forget all of your worries and things that make you cross. Take three deep breaths and clear your mind of all your cares and woes then I’ll tell you about a dog called Bart who has adventures wherever he goes.
Hi,
Thank You. 🙂
Sounds like it is going to be a fantastic book. 😀
