Stage Collapse:- Indiana (Video)

A terrible tragedy at the Indiana State Fair, there was a storm coming and the winds were getting stronger, concert officials announced that the Sugarland concert may have to be postponed, and was about to evacuate the area, but before any evacuation could take place, a huge wind gust hit and the stage collapsed.

Originally there was 4 killed but I believe it is now 5 with over 40 people injured. After seeing the video I am amazed there wasn’t a lot more. My sympathy and prayers go out to all the people involved.

The main reason I have put in this post, is the amazing efforts from the people that were at the fair to watch the concert. After the collapse of the stage, a mass of people ran straight to the stage and done whatever they could to get people out from under the collapsed stage, the heroism showed by all these people is something that will always be remembered, as they tried to left the heavy metal off people that were trapped underneath.

The wind was far stronger than that in other areas of the fairgrounds, said Dan McCarthy, chief meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Indiana. He estimated the gust at 96 to 113k/ph.   The Telegraph.

Such a tragic event. We’re once again reminded of how quickly our lives can be changed [ended]. Amazing, though, to see how all those people RAN towards the collapsed stage, to help. That, at least, is heart warming.

      Hi Rebekah,
That is so true, you never know what is just around the corner so to speak. No matter what the tragedy there always seems to be people that will go that extra mile to try and help, and where would we be without these wonderful people.

You wonder if people who witness this kind of tragedy take those images with them forever. I like the tone of this post Mags, that you didn’t show it for it’s sadness, but for the good in people to help one another. Bravo.

      HI EOSR,
I think you would not forget something like that if it happened in front of you. Personally I think I would probably have a few nightmares about this every time I closed my eyes, and probably worry about strong winds as well.

That is just awful. How frightening for all those involved. Poor things.

      Hi Selma,
It certainly did look terrifying, and that was just from the video, I can’t imagine how bad it must of been for those that were there.
